Late 19th Century | Circa 1890–1910
A rare and beautifully matched archaeological revival suite, crafted in silver and 18 karat gold (XRF tested) and set throughout with natural Mediterranean coral (Corallium rubrum).
The ensemble comprises a pendant and a matching pair of elongated amphora-form earrings, each reflecting the classical revival aesthetic embraced in Continental Europe at the turn of the century. Architectural framing, granulated accents, articulated coral drops, and decorative chain swags create fluid movement and strong vertical presence when worn.
The pendant retains its original antique C-clasp and tube hinge (pin stem currently not present) and features a removable bail, once allowing it to be worn as either a brooch or pendant.. The earrings are fitted with 18 karat gold lever-back ear wires.
Stamped with French import assay marks including the owl with “75” (.750 gold) for gold and the swan for silver, indicating official entry into the French market.
The coral has been tested and confirmed as natural, untreated Mediterranean material.
Matched suites of this scale and preservation are increasingly difficult to find intact.
